Condé Nast Traveler has named Telluride the #1 Ski area in all of US and Canada.

In their annual Readers’ Choice Survey, they asked 20,000 Condé Nast Traveler skiiers to vote on the best ski areas in North America—and they came up with an impressive list of must-visit mountain towns. Telluride received a Readers’ Choice Rating  of 94.1%.

Here’s what they had to say:

Our readers consider Telluride “the most beautiful mountain town in Colorado with views reminiscent of the Alps,” rocketing it to the number one spot in our poll. Readers love the no-line lifts, the steep terrain, and the overall laid-back vibe, adding it’s “absolutely the world’s greatest ski area when it comes to variety of difficulty.” What’s more, Telluride is a “fun town to explore,” “a little slice of heaven in a gorgeous box canyon.”

Forbes Contributor Names Telluride as Favorite Resort

Forbes Article

Larry Olmstead, Forbes contributor, has recently named the Telluride Ski Resort as his new favorite ski resort!

He credits the most important reason for his love of Telluride Ski Resort as the Terrain. With trails good enough for the pros, Larry loves this about this location. Let’s also remember that for those who are a little less advanced in skiing, we’ve got some great trails for you too.

Secondly, he appreciates the “presence of a town” nearby as another reason people should check it out.

Lastly, Telluride offers a wide-range of activities in and around the resort. It keeps you captivated, and entertained enough to stick around.

National Geographic Features Telluride in Top 25 Ski Towns in the World

National Geographic Article - Telluride Affiliates BlogBest For: Big-lunged skiers and boarders with a taste for fine wine and the mountain high life

Remote and unrelentingly beautiful, Telluride may be the most picturesque ski town in North America, a Victorian-era silver-mining hamlet set deep in a box canyon in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado. The steep runs of Telluride Ski Resort spill right into the edge of the town’s National Historic District, where a gondola whisks skiers back up into the area’s almost 4,000 vertical feet of absurdly scenic skiing. Only 12 blocks long and with no stoplights, neon signs, or billboards, this charming town of 2,325 people combines fine wine lists and funky bars with a spirited culture of diehard mountain lovers. The town sits at a gasping 8,793 feet above sea level, and lifts reach to over 12,500 feet, so come prepared to acclimatize.

Telluride Middle School Receives Academic Recognition

On February 7, Steve Smith, Principal of the Telluride Intermediate/Middle School announced that Telluride Middle School has been recognized for academic excellence by the Governor’s office.

“Once again, the Governor’s office has recognized TMS’ continual trajectory of student achievement and growth. While this award cites the Telluride Middle School, it really is a result of K-8 teachers’ caring, instruction, program development, support mechanisms like IMAP, and the parental and community connections we have in place. This team approach helps us all keep our collective  “eye on the prize” and keeps our kids achieving at high levels.”

Congratulations to all!

Telluride Update: June 2015

Screen-Shot-2013-02-15-at-2.22.26-PM

The rains have stopped and summer is in full swing, just in time for the Bluegrass Festival!

We went “off-line” in May and didn’t send an ecard, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t busy and things weren’t happening in Telluride. The school has broken ground on its remodel, our farmer’s markets are in full swing and the newly expanded Clarks Market across from our office is now open and they’re finishing the final parking lot work this month.

Real estate sales have continued at a brisk pace as well with dollar volume of sales in San Miguel County through May up 11% from 2014 and number of sales up 6% and things seem to be accelerating in June with the Town of Telluride the hottest segment of our market right now.

As always, please feel free to stop by the office, visit our website or contact us online, or call 970-728-0213 with any of your real estate questions or needs.

Telluride Update: Late March 2015

Telluride Affiliates Blog

End of March

The winter season is winding to a close with a string of beautiful sunny days and excellent spring skiing. There are still a lot of people in town and we expect to be busy right up to closing day.

That said, it’s never too early to start thinking about summer and the Colorado Flights Alliance recently announced an increase in commercial flights to the region for summer 2015, including added service from Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth in and out of Montrose.

Allegiant will extend its twice-weekly flights between LAX and Montrose from winter into summer. United flights from Houston will ramp up from twice-weekly to daily for the height of the summer season. Additional flights from Chicago, Denver and Dallas are also part of the increase. Details are available at www.coloradoflights.com.

Telluride Update: February 2015

Telluride Affiliates Blog

Telluride’s long string of sunny days was interrupted yesterday with some welcome snow. The mountain has been busy and our towns as well with the Comedy Fest and holiday weekend.

After a banner year in 2014, real estate sales for January 2015 were close to even with last year, down just 4% in dollar volume over January 2014 and up 21% in number of sales. In other notable news, the new owners of the Madeline Residences and Hotel in the Mountain Village core have committed to $15 million in improvements to the property and the condominiums are now officially offered for sale. Let us know if you’d like additional details and, as always, please feel free to stop by the office or contact us online or at 970-728-0213 with any of your real estate questions or needs.

Telluride Update: January 2015

Telluride Affiliates Blog

We’re all enjoying unseasonably warm temperatures and beautifully sunny skies in Telluride with some new snow forecast for the end of the week. For those of you who live in the Phoenix or Los Angeles, Allegiant Air is offering 2-for-1 tickets until Friday Jan. 30 for travel through Mar. 28. Click here for more details.

With the final real estate sales numbers tallied from 2014 last year was the strongest since the market’s peak in 2007. San Miguel County finished the year up 48% in dollar volume of sales over 2013 and up 28% in number of sales. All told 2014 saw 523 sales worth a total of $507.1 million. For a more complete analysis of 2014 visit www.TellurideAffiliates.com/our-market/telluride-market-reports/.

What does this mean for 2015? Based on activity YTD we expect that the market will continue to remain strong with inventory in Telluride tightening even more. Mountain Village may continue to offer better value as there’s more supply in most segments of this market and the days of the bank sales and REO offerings are, for the most part, behind us. New construction offerings will again start to appear in Telluride with Mountain Village following as the older home and condo inventory sells out.
