Telluride has been busy celebrating Gus Kenworthy and his silver medal in men’s ski slopestyle in Sochi. Kenworthy is Telluride’s first home-grown winter Olympian. Way to go Gus! We’ve also been enjoying some excellent skiing right here in the San Juans, thanks to a number of February storms.

December started with a number of big storms and Telluride has had some of the best early season conditions that we can remember! With almost 100 inches of snow so far, most of the mountain is open (the ski company is saving Revelation Bowl for the holidays) and the skiing and snowboarding has been great. Hopefully we’ll see even more snow later this week and through year-end.

Thanksgiving week started with lots of fresh snow on the ground and the Ski Company reporting 75 inches of snow YTD for the season and a 41 inch base. With all the new snow we’re on track for one of the best opening days in quite some time and the mountain opens tomorrow, Nov. 27th, with Donation Day, a fundraiser for the Telluride Ski & Snowboard Club. All tickets are $25 and all proceeds go to the Club’s scholarship fund.
