America West/U.S. Air will renew its winter service between Telluride Regional Airport and Phoenix this winter with two daily non-stop flights, beginning December 15, 2006, with a 37-passenger Dash 8 aircraft operating the Telluride-to-Phoenix air service through March 31, 2007.

“We’re pleased that America West/USAir will be serving the Telluride Airport this coming winter,” said Telluride Montrose Regional Air Organization President Tom Hess.

Hess went on to pronounce the Telluride-to-Phoenix route as benefiting “both Telluride local residents and visitors alike,” while at the same time “providing great connections to other destinations in Arizona, Southern California and the West Coast.”
Effective Friday, Dec. 15, Telluride-bound flights will depart from Phoenix daily at 9:45 and 11:11 a.m., while Phoenix-bound flights depart Telluride daily at 11:48 a.m. and 1:29 p.m. Flight time is not quite two hours.

The TMRAO is pursuing air-service growth for both Telluride and Montrose airports to meet local and visitor traveler demand through revenue guarantee agreements with air carriers.

Hess estimates that the TMRAO program brings direct guest spending of more than $60 million dollars to the Telluride/Montrose region, going on to generate over $200 million in combined economic activity.

In other airline news, TMRAO has secured air service for the coming winter into the Telluride and Montrose regional airports from nine non-stop destinations (with thousands of worldwide connections) on five major U.S. Carriers. For more information, please call 970/728-7465.
